Touch typing is one of the most useful skills a child can take into secondary school. Since 2008, Searsol has helped thousands of children across Ireland learn to type quickly, accurately and without looking at the keys. Our after-school classes are for children aged 8 and up.

Try a class for free

Every new student can come to a free 1-hour trial class at their local centre. Your child will meet the tutor, try our Typewiz programme and see how the class works, and you’ll get feedback on their typing before you decide anything.

What your child will learn

• Correct finger positions on the home keys, so they stop hunting for letters.
• Speed and accuracy, working through our Bronze (about 15 words per minute), Silver (about 25) and Gold (about 40) levels.
• Good habits for homework, projects and exams.

Our goal is to double each child’s typing speed within six months, while improving accuracy and confidence.

Extra support for dyslexia, dyspraxia (DCD) and handwriting difficulties

Many of our students find handwriting slow or tiring. Typing takes away much of the physical effort, so children can focus on their ideas, spelling and organising their work. Our tutors are experienced with learning differences and classes are small (up to 15 students).
