Free Trial booking at this centreThe Searsol centre enables children from the age of eight upwards to learn the skill of touch typing. Our unique training method focuses on enabling children to work independently, giving them confidence in their typing abilities. They progress through small steps to gradually develop their accuracy and typing speed. Unlike traditional tuition, Searsol fosters students’ skill in self-learning, building confidence and lessening reliance on a teacher.
Our typing course is suitable for all children from the age of eight upwards. We work with children that have learning differences such as dyslexia, dyspraxia or other learning differences.
Your child will be initially assessed by the Searsol tutor to determine what they can achieve on our typing course. Your child will visit their local Searsol centre once a week, where their Tutor will observe their typing and ensure that they are using the right technique. Searsol’s aim is to develop each child into a confident, independent and enthusiastic learner

I’m Ann Byrne and I am a Tutor at the Searsol Malahide Centre. I am fully qualified computer instructor. Through my commitment to supporting young adults, I believe education gives numerous opportunities and encourages further education through motivation and sacrifice.
The Searsol typing class offers an amazing opportunity to obtain a life skill for children and young adults aged 8-17. The program is designed to record accuracy and speed in which students can monitor their progress every week in a friendly and fun environment.
My weekly interaction with students enables me to develop a true appreciation for what can be achieved and admiration for the students I have taught. I look forward to welcoming you into the Centre as you begin your own Searsol journey.

Classes follow the school term. Classes run from September to May. No classes on the following dates: 30th Sept 2023 (School Holidays) 28th October and 4th Nov 2023 mid-term 23rd and 30th December 2023 and 6th of January 2024 Christmas Break 3rd February (Bank Holiday Weekend) 10th and 17th February 2024 February mid-term 16th March 2024 St Patrick's Weekend 23rd and 30th March and 6th April 2024 Easter May bank holiday - 4th May 2024 Last class 25th of May 2024 Classes finish end of May and start back in September.

Enter the school at the side entrance not the main reception (Signed as 1st & 6th Year Entrance), take the first door to the left as you come in, and go up the flight of stairs to the first floor. At the top of the first floor, take a right and go down the hallway. The computer room is 129 the fourth door on the righthand side.

Information about Class Structure:
Our academic year spans from September through the end of May or June, depending on the centre. We offer a flexible schedule, hosting three to five monthly classes. The course fee remains consistent every month regardless of the number of classes held in a given month.
Our classes follow a hybrid model, combining traditional classroom settings with at-home learning opportunities. This hybrid approach ensures comprehensive learning experiences for students.
Home-based learning sessions are scheduled during specific times throughout the year to accommodate various events, including Halloween, Christmas, Midterms, Easter, and Bank Holidays. During these periods when our typing classes are not on in the classroom, students can access Typewiz from home using their unique passcode. If you need your child’s passcode, simply contact your class tutor or contact us via email.
We strive to provide a balanced and engaging learning environment that maximises student learning potential throughout the academic year.
The free trial assessment is an hour long and takes place as part of the class. Just drop your child off to the class and then come back at the end of the class. The class tutor will show a report on how your child got on detailing the following:
- How many exercises they did.
- Their average accuracy and word-per-minute
- What potential grade they can achieve on the course – Bronze, Silver or Gold grade.

If your child can’t make our typing class, they can access Typewiz at home using their passcode. The passcode can be obtained from the class tutor or email Searsol requesting it.
If the classes are not on due to midterms etc. Your child still can access Typewiz using their passcode.
